K. Vijay Kumar (born 15 September 1952) is a former officer in the Indian Police Service and was the Chief of the Special Task Force that was behind the encounter with the notorious bandit Veerappan during Operation Cocoon of 2004.
==Early life==
Vijay Kumar was born to Krishnan Nair, a retired police officer and Kousalya on 15 September 1952. He is the second son in a family of six. He graduated from St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli, and then went on to complete his post-graduation from title= Vijay Kumar to head CRPF
